Rio: A Journal of the Arts

The way a trawler will lift anchor
try further and further away
this lady at the MVB says come back

when your license expires
and then renew --it’s not that important
I’m shorter or why the inch

is racing off without me
sucked into an immense yell
for more altitude --why can’t she

just accept that moonlight
was never enough and give me a break
--as a woman she’ll know

how to find my grave
but the stone will be confused
wants the claim in writing

up to the day that shows exactly
where in the ground the sun
was lowered for its first meal

and every day returns a piece
--it’s just an inch but listen lady
I want it back, you had it last.
