the healing rhythm
winter into spring

[arterial flow

Heart--take spring

through the

winter sleep

of bones, skin and

organs that wait--

sow petals in

the snow (color

for your cheeks)

as heels warm

soil beneath them--

thaw out and in

the torso that

wrestles against fear,

rage, grief,

and doubt--

blow the lungs' awful

dams away and

break the back's

glaciers with hissing

streams of breath--

feed extensions of

neck, head, and arms

ascending through

hands like dawn

slowly breaking--

limber the fingers

with climbing fires

unforming ice

like storms that

rain strong wine--

open in each of the

leaves, little ears

the winds fill

when soil thaws

and smells warm--

flow--wherever

I must be

and keep me till

not even one chrysalis

endures in frost--
