White Collage

The bandage
of sleep
the pillow
of the moon

The corrugation
of time
in the wadded
cardboard

Broken pieces
of bottle glass
painted milk
and chalky

The tones
of white
are the
gradations

of the
sundial
of light
and darkness

The sun leads
the colors
on fading
leashes

to the horizon
of detritus
where they
shred

Today is
yesterday's
papers
already

But when art
is white
it comprises
a map

to the
future
to the
imagination

a white sun
that gives
off the
rays of time

In its
pockets
are the
minutes

the stars
in their
white
sockets

Serrations
of desiccated
carnations
flare

drained
paralyzed
sunspots
wheels

cogs in
the visible
white collage
of time
